RUSHING around with no place to go!

I do quite a few of these....this is an orphan from an unmatched set of six. Standard 5/32" fibre rushing that will get two coats of amber shellac.

Cute and Little...or little cutie

Another chair that was done with 5MM binder cane....the yardstick is not just for decoration, it keeps some slack built into the warp while the weavers are placed. Usually I use a dowel, but was too lazy to go out into the northeastern winter to the workshop to retrive one. The front and back dowels are at a different height than the side dowels so this seat will probably get a cushion.

White Rocker

A pretty little porch rock as we await the beginning of spring. I've hibernated long enough. This chair is done with 5MM porch cane (binder cane) and the seat bottom and Back should mirror each other. This is not a "Herringbone Weave", it's a pattern of two by two.

Antler Basket

Second "art" Antler Basket. Catherine, I'm going to need lessons!

Punishment is now unfashionable... because it creates moral distinctions among men, which, to the democratic mind, are odious. We prefer a meaningless collective guilt to a meaningful individual responsibility.

Seven-step

Walnut Chairs seem to be some of the most popular chairs, but when they dry out, the rails should be reinforced with screws....gluing will not solve the problem, the wood will find another place to split.

Sometimes it's not about the chair........

"Winter's Quiet" ........the second basket I've done after 30 years of chair repair and caning! I used just about everything in the shop including the 4-point white tail antler. Since I have a pile of sheds and kills, I might try and put one of these together every now and then. This is an "art" basket, (more decoration than basket) but would serve nicely as a centerpiece or table scape. It's about 10" by 14" $160

I love a set of "matching chairs" with hand drilled holes so nothing matches.....

Done in fine-fine select cane.

Little White Rocker continued.......

Now that the Christmas rush is over I finished that white rocker with 6mm binder cane in the back. Sold this rocker almost immediately and haven't found a project of my own yet so it's on to the customers!

Only when the tide goes out do you discover who's been swimming naked.
Warren Buffett

A bedroom rocker in 5MM Binder Cane......actually using leftover odds and ends from the summer caning season. It's pretty difficult to sell some these "orphans" for the amount of work and cane in them, but it's pretty wasteful to throw the chair and cane away. Wait for a while and I'll post the finish product.

Five sisters and a cousin

The neat thing about old chairs (or old anything) can be assembling enough like chairs to have a dinner party. Sometimes just using what you have will do. Six chairs, done in fine-fine cane in the seven-step method, 5 chairs "match" plus 1 "cousin".
